Two-way mirror test

Put your fingernail on the mirror. If there is no gap between your nail and its reflection, it may be a two-way mirror. Also switch off the lights and shine your torch into it — a room behind will show through.

Look for tiny holes

Camera lenses can be 1–3 mm wide. A pin-hole in a smoke detector, clock, charger or wall that faces the bed/shower is a red flag.

Odd devices & wires

A USB charger with no phone, a second smoke detector, a clock facing the bed, or a wire leading nowhere deserves a closer look.

Unplug & cover

If unsure, unplug chargers/clocks and cover suspicious spots with tape or a towel. A camera needs power and a view.

Use the Wi-Fi scan

Most modern spy cameras stream over Wi-Fi. CamGuard's network scan finds devices that answer like cameras even if you can't see them.

If you find one

Don't destroy it — it's evidence. Take photos, leave the room, and inform the manager and police (112). Women's helpline: 1091.
